  3. 3.1 Risk-tiered approval matrix

3.1 Risk-tiered approval matrix

Completion requirements

Build an approval matrix for one real workflow. Assign each output type to a tier: auto-apply, single reviewer, or dual review.

Justify every assignment by consequence. For each type, state what happens if that output is wrong and nobody catches it.

An assignment justified by how tedious the review is will be marked Developing, not Proficient.

matrix plus 400–700 words · about 60–90 minutes.

How you will be graded — aim for Proficient.

1 · EmergingEverything in one tier. Tiers justified by effort or seniority.
2 · DevelopingThree tiers used, but assignment reflects reviewer convenience rather than consequence.
3 · Proficient — targetEvery output type assigned to a tier and justified by consequence — what happens if that output is wrong and nobody catches it. An assignment justified by how tedious the review is scores Developing, not Proficient.
4 · ExemplaryAlso identifies a latent condition — a tier or authority grant that is reasonable today and will fail under volume — and proposes the change before it fails.
